Portrait von Marcus Dietrich

Education

Marcus Dietrich holds an M.A. in history and a diploma (equivalent of M.A.) in International Business and Economics from the University of Innsbruck.

Project Working Title

In the Dollar We (Must) Trust? A Socialist Perspective on the Emergence of International Finance During the Cold War

Project Description

In his dissertation, Marcus Dietrich investigates the integration of socialist banks into international financial markets, the so-called Eurodollar markets, during the Cold War. He is interested in how these financial institutions maneuvered the intersection of capitalism and socialism. Situated at the juncture of Cold War history and international political economy, the dissertation should contribute to the understanding of the relationship between Eurodollar markets and socialist institution and how the development of a Dollar-based financial globalization was viewed from the socialist East.
