Research
The HCA facilitates numerous interdisciplinary research projects as well as classic individual studies. The following pages provide information about the publications of HCA scholars and our research projects and collaborations.
These include the Spring Academy, our international doctoral academy; the James W. C. Pennington Award, which commemorates the first honorary doctorate awarded by Heidelberg University to an African-American; the Rolf Kentner Prize for an outstanding dissertation in American Studies; and the Jonathan Edwards Center Germany, a cooperation with the Faculty of Theology and Yale Divinity School. We also provide an overview of our visiting scholars and conferences, both current and past. As a pivotal pillar of HCA research, the Research Training Group “Authority and Trust in American Culture, Society, History, and Politics” (GKAT), funded by the German Research Foundation, has been based at the center since 2017.
