Project Working Title
Pragmatism as Public Philosophy: A Study from Dewey to Neopragmatism
Project Description
In her dissertation, Leyla Abbasi explores the expanding landscape of public philosophy. She first develops a conceptual framework of engaged philosophy that integrates John Dewey’s works with contemporary literature on public philosophy and draws a line to the insights of Philip Kitcher. In a subsequent step, she aims to illuminate the relationship between public philosophers and members of the public, investigating the processes by which trust is created and shapes their mutual interactions.
